The Characters
On stage we transform into characters from the world of Annrys. Meet The Lorehunters!
Gizard
A goblin pirate with a price on his head in every port of Pirata, and a song for every crime that earned it
Tjordain
A viking who measures his life in battles survived and his worth in the songs they left behind.
Siraye
An elf older than the borders on the map, who remembers Annrys as it was before men gave it names.
Skolas
A vampire in his fourth century of impeccable manners, waiting politely for the world to catch up to him
Elsiore
A mage whose experiments are the reason three towers on the map are ruins.
Vaeril
An elf trained by the assassins of Korinthay to move without a sound. He now makes his living doing the exact opposite.
The World of Annrys
Our songs are set in Annrys, a world of seven regions shaped by their own histories, faiths and wars. Every lyric we write comes from somewhere on this map, and the map is bigger than most of its people know.
Karawyn
The anchor of the south, ruled from Stallgard by knights, light mages and seven pillars of power. Karawyn does not dream of conquering the world’s chaos, only of holding it in balance.
The Wedge
The highlands of the Keltar clans and the Druidic Circles, where giants, centaurs and hobbits share the valleys. Its Living Wall of briar and mist is all that holds the rot of Boneghast from the east.
Grimr
The hard north of vikings and dwarfs, where law is spoken at the Thing and a saga is only worth telling if someone bled for it. Grimr fights a war on two fronts and retreats on neither. Tjordain’s homeland.
Boneghast
Once a great academy of mages who cheated death and killed their own god for it. Now a realm of liches and vampire lords, expanding from the northeast, patient as only the dead can be.
Pirata
Humanity’s first landfall and its most lawless coast, where the Hangman’s Code passes for law and the Drowned King watches from below. Home waters of Gizard, who left with his neck intact.
Jagged Woods
The old forest of the elves, tended by the Root-Singers and the Mother Tree. It takes no sides, opens no borders, and will still be standing when the wars around it have names in history books.
Folk metal from Limburg.
History
Founded back in 2013 as Annwyn by Björn Gillissen and Jordan Duinkerken, the original goal was to make music inspired by Fantasy, Dungeons & Dragons, history, and Metal. Shortly after its founding, they recruited Quincy Heynen on drums and Falco Gillissen on harmonica and flute. After a few changes in the early years, Debbie Duijzings joined on bass guitar.
In 2019 the band rebranded as Annrys, beginning a new chapter in their story. After some difficult times, folk metal band Annrys finally finished their first album Under The Northern Lights.
In 2024 the line-up shifted once more. When Björn stepped away, Jason Dool took over as frontman and singer, while Quincy moved from drums to guitar. With the arrival of Bart Wilmsen on drums, the current line-up of Annrys was complete. Proud of their work and the songs they created, they now look forward to many gigs and the chance to bring even more new music to life.
